CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – For the second time this season, Army West Point baseball saw two of its own tabbed with Patriot League weekly awards.

Josh White garnered his first player of the week acknowledgment, while first-year infielder Anthony Giachin earned his second rookie of the week honor.

White batted .462 (6-for-13) with three runs scored and three runs batted in to help Army start 4-0 in conference play. The junior second baseman hit safely in all four games, while slugging .462 and posting a .500 on-base percentage. White went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with Bucknell. He went 2-for-4 with one run and one driven in, in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against Navy. He also had six putouts and five assists in the field during the week.

For his efforts this weekend, White was also tabbed the College Sports Madness Patriot League Player of the Week.

Giachin averaged .308 (4-for-13) throughout the Cadet's four-game weekend, while reaching base at a .400 clip. The rookie went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Army's Game 2 win over Bucknell. He drove in one run in the first game against Navy, before going a career-best 3-for-4 with three runs in the second game. Giachin also had five putouts and four assists during the week.

Fellow teammate
Tyler Giovinco received honorable mention praise after tossing 6.2 innings of shutout baseball. He allowed five hits and struck out six in the Black Knights' 1-0 game one victory over Bucknell on Saturday. The junior lefty finished just one out short of a complete game to earn his third victory of the season.

The Army squad is back in action this week when it welcomes Siena in its home opener on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Black Knights will then host Bucknell in a three-game series, beginning Saturday with a doubleheader. The two teams will then wrap things up Sunday with a single game. First pitch for both days is slated for 12 p.m.
